Not So Fresh Legs

Ok so yesterday morning’s 5k race went alright considering I was running on Fatigued Legs…a consequence of no rest day! I finished strongly in 4th place and 3rd for my Age Division 18-29 🙂 I guess I can’t ask for more!

But I did read an article that outlined the importance of simulating race conditions ie; learning how to push on without fresh legs. Training on fatigued legs isn’t so bad I suppose it helps in the long run when you have back to back races!?

Oh and it was Father’s Day yesterday here in Australia! We treated my dad to a French style Breakfast which consisted of Croissants & Brioche 🙂 The rest of my day was spent with my mum’s side of the family for lunch, which went well into the evening. The weekend was great but it went by so quickly 😦

I usually post my workout for the week today, but I have a Physio appointment tomorrow. So I will have to wait to see what I can and can’t do for the next 2 weeks. By the looks of it I have a bad case of runners knee!

This morning I went for a 5k slow jog and it was fairly painful to run on. So this afternoon I substituted my usual Short Sprint Training with 45mins on the Stationary Bike.

  1. Well done on the 5k that’s great. Maybe use your tired legs as motivation to have a rest day. It really willhelp with your running and imrpive things. Even top high class runners have rest dayS as your muscles need chance to grow. I know its not easy though and I do struggle to have rest days and usually take them when I am going top be fairl active at work or out shopping with friend or even swimming is a good alternative.     The fruit platters you post always make me want to run to the store and gobble down a bunch of fresh produce! =) With fatigued legs you still rocked the race! Great Job Girlie
